3 projects you can do in Exploring Technology
Friday June 5, 2026 8:55am - 9:40am PDT
I explain how the students get to use mass and custom production in making lasered bookmarks. Students make their own custom ice cream and label in groups. Their labels receive feedback from other classes and they make improvements. Yes they get to eat their ice cream creations. Students make their own custom ping pong ball accelerators mostly out of cardboard.

Developing Jr High Technology and Engineering Project Progression
Friday June 5, 2026 11:40am - 12:25pm PDT
This session presents my progress in the last few years to develop a progression of projects across Exploring Technology 7th, 8th, Manufacturing Technology, Robotics Technology, and Engineering Technology in Jr. High. Many of these projects came from help with other teachers, and I would like to continue conversations about how we can be intentional about helping students develop the skills they need through our classes across grade levels. I'll show examples of each project I've been doing and solicit feedback about things each of us might add to strengthen our pathways into high school.

Building Students Spatial Skills Through Block Play
Friday June 5, 2026 1:00pm - 1:45pm PDT
Do your students struggle to interpret, visualize, or create 2D and 3D designs? Spatial Protocol and Reasoning Command (SPARC) is a Mars-themed spatial learning experience that helps students develop foundational spatial abilities through block play, sketching, communication and visualization challenges. In this session, you will learn how to play SPARC, explore the research behind spatial skill development, gain access to the complete toolkit, and discover ways to implement the framework in your classroom.
